A packed winter schedule from SLOW

Although our summer Park Race series has drawn to a close, SLOW has a packed winter schedule for 2014-15, with four club competitions and bi-weekly fitness training sessions.

On the competitive side, there is the London City Race on Sunday 21 September, the OK Nuts Trophy on Wisley Common on Sunday 30 November, and several club competitions to look forward to.

There are only two Tuesdays without events: 23 and 30 December!

Winter Interval Training Sessions

Starting on Tuesday 2 September and then on the first Tuesday of each month through to 7 April, the SLOW Winter Interval Training Sessions are open to members of all abilities. We will meet at 6:30pm at the Clapham Common bandstand (10 min jog from Clapham Common or Clapham South tube stains, 15min jog from Clapham Junction mainline station) for each session and over the course of 8 sessions improve our speed work in prep for next years big races.

Bring along a watch (as depending on numbers, we will do time-based intervals to allow people of all speeds to train together) and remember to wrap up warm as it becomes wintery. It is not advised to bring bags etc. as there is nowhere suitable to leave them whilst training. Details will be available on the SLOW Members Facebook page.

Technical Training Sessions

We will be running technical training sessions on the third Tuesday of the month, starting on Tuesday 23 September and running through to 21 April. Details, including the relevant location will be confirmed via the SLOW Members Facebook group.

Autumn Series and Club Championships

SLOW’s Autumn Series will be run as before over a series of races put on by other clubs. Full club members are eligible if they run on BOF ranking courses. Points will be awarded on the usual 100-down basis used in our Street-O, Park Race and Night-O series, and separate competitions will be run for open, senior and veteran competitions.

The Club Championship is likely to be held on one of Southern Navigators’ Saturday Series events towards the end of the year. More details will be announced as they become available.
