Chiltern Hills MTB Score Event, Sunday 10th June 2018

The second event in the SLOW Mountain Bike Score 2018 Series takes place in the Chiltern Hills on Sunday 10th June.

Getting there:

All of the roads around St Leonards are very small country lanes, so from the N or W it is best to approach via Aston Hill and past Wendover Woods visitor centre and from all other directions via Buckland Common. 
There is now no parking charge

Start times are 10:00-11:00.

This is a public event – all are welcome. All entries are on the day but we encourage you to please RSVP to the event via Facebook (event link to follow) or email to let us know you are coming so that the correct number of maps are printed.

Breaking News:

We will have SIAC contactless dibbers available for hire at all our events this season for an additional £2!

Event Centre

In an excursion from our usual Surrey Hills locations, this event will be based in the beautiful Chiltern Hills at

Toilets and drinking water are available onsite before and after the event. Tea/coffee & cake will hopefully also be available for a small charge.

Event Details

The entry fee is £8 for day riders, £7 for BMBO (with their membership cards) and SLOW members, and £6 for under 21s.

The event will be run under British Mountain Bike Orienteering rules, which competitors are advised to read in advance. BMBO also has some helpful MTB Score tips.

All riders must wear a helmet and carry a whistle and first aid kit (a minimum of plasters & dressing). The following equipment is also recommended:

  • Mobile Phone
  • Waterproof top
  • Compass

There will be series prizes for top male/female/pair and veteran male/female/pair scores, based on the best 3 results of the 4 races over the course of the year.

The event duration is 2 hours and the course will close at 13:00.

Maps will be 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey maps. The event will use SportIdent electronic punching at all controls, and a limited number of SI dibbers will be available. Please bring your own if you have one.

All competitors take part at their own risk.

Results will be available on the SLOW and BMBO websites shortly after the event.
