Street-O event – City of London

Tuesday 9 October 2007

The second street orienteering event of SLOW's 2007/08 series will be held in the City of London on Tuesday 9th October.  Full details are set out below.

Location – Registration/Start/Finish will be under the white canopy in the centre of Exchange Square behind Liverpool Street Station.  For an exact location see this Google map link (click on the blue markers in the centre to see a description of the meeting points) or Multimap link.  The closest stations are Liverpool Street (5mins), Moorgate (10mins) and Old Street (12minutes), all of which provide underground and overground services.

Directions – from Liverpool Street station, take the Liverpool Street exit (by McDonalds) and turn right, then right again (almost immediately) and walk along the side of the station up Sun Street Passage. Keep to the right along the path. You will have to duck into the station for a few yards to get round a barrier.  Stick to the right and go up a small flight of step and you'll be in Exchange Square. The white canopy will be obvious.

Race format – the format will be a 60 minute score event, but with a mass start at 7.00pm (latecomers can start individually up to 7.30 pm). Please remember to bring a pen and watch!

Safety – please be very very careful of the traffic. The city is always busy and traffic never gives way to pedestrians!

Social – the pub afterwards is an atmospheric Dim Sum eatery and bar called The Drunken Monkey (marked on the map link above) which is 5 minutes walk from Exchange Square.  The pub serves excellent Chinese food and there are set menus for £10 or £15 (£13 for vegetarian).  I have reserved tables for us at 8:15 pm, so please let me know if you want to eat as I need to confirm numbers closer to the time.

To assist with predicting numbers for map printing, please e-mail me (owen@thoughtsport.com) if you intend to come.
