SLOW Autumn Series standings after three events

Three of SLOW’s Autumn Series champions have been decided after three of four events. Congratulations to:

  • Jev Petrovs, who wins the Men’s Open with three straight victories;
  • Dorte Torpe Hansen, in Women’s Vets with the same result; and
  • Teresa Turner, in Women’s Super-Plus who cannot be caught with two wins and a third place.

Competition remains incredibly tight in the three other categories, and it is quite possible that the Men’s Super-Plus Vets is awarded on a tie-breaker – the rules will be announced ahead of the last event, SLOW’s OK Nuts Trophy.

The Women’s Open is the least contested, with Lucca Blumenstein and Charlotte Turner head-to-head. If both compete next weekend, Charlotte beating Lucca will guarantee her victory, but in their only head-to-head in the series has Lucca beaten Charlotte.

In the Men’s Vets, a previous two-horse race has opened up. A recovery next weekend after a disappointing result at Hindhead for Vince Roper could secure the title for him, but Pete Huzan’s consistency in second looks threatening and a win from latecomer Paul Whiston could still award him first place.

The Men’s Super-Plus sees the tightest competition with Don McKerrow, Andy Robinson and Charlie Turner tied for first place. Charlie and Andy are both ineligible for the OK Nuts through their involvement in the event. In the Park Race and Street-O series they would have been awarded the same score as their highest series event. However the rules for tie-breaks in this series are yet to be announced.

Finally, an honourable mention for Jamie Lund who became the first junior to score in the series, finishing seventh on the Orange course at Hindhead.
