            OK NUTS 2000 CANCELLED

Due to the continuing foot and mouth crisis the re-scheduled date of 13th May, 2001 is now off.  We regret that we will not now be able to run this event.  Those competitors who re-entered the event by mid-March will get a refund.  Members of SEOA will get a voucher for a run at a future SLOW event (not badge).  Members of clubs outside the South-East will get a cash refund made out to their club.  This is in order to try and keep down wasteful bank charges.

News:

The training day on 8th April is still going ahead but on Wimbledon Common instead (land permission permitting but not expected to be a problem).

The current plan is to use the Robin Hood Lane car park (access off the A3 about half way down the strip of fields south of the clubhouse). Other details as in SLOWPRINT (junior and senior training, beginners welcome). This is a rare chance to exercise your O-shoes which may be in danger of falling into permanent disuse... Please let me know by 28th March if you will be coming and what sort of training you would like. I look forward to seeing you there.

News:

'OK Nuts 2000' event looks highly vulnerable to cancellation (Foot & Mouth).

This event was rescheduled for May 13th 2001 from Dec 10th 2000. The event area, Winterfold, is adjacent to farm land and the car park normally has sheep on it. There are also deer living in the woods. We currently have entries from all over England, including infected areas. This makes the event extremely vulnerable in the current crisis, with reported cases still occurring daily. The BOF suggested guideline is for events to allow a six-week clear period from the last reported outbreak before proceeding. Regardless of any time scale, our landowners may withdraw permission anyway.

This means that SLOW will make a final decision by the end of March, but at this stage it does not look too hopeful that the event will go ahead. We will write to all currently entered competitors if this occurs using the envelopes provided. We have frozen any new entries and are not issuing a new flyer. Please note that not all previously entered competitors have confirmed whether they wish to keep their entries. Despite the uncertainty over the new date I would be grateful if competitors who have not yet replied would do so as soon as possible.

News:

'Please note that the OK Nuts 2000, postponed from Dec 10th 2000, will now take place on Winterfold on Sunday May 13th, 2001 (subject to land permission). We should be able to use the original car park and courses as planned. The new SEOA SI kit will also be available then. Entries will stand as they are unless competitors have changed age groups. We will be writing to competitors within the next few days to let them know about the rescheduled date. A new flyer will appear shortly, we will be able to accept some new entries but there will be a limit on some courses as we can only use the maps overprinted for the original event in December.', Andrew Trimble (SLOW).

News:

Apologies for the lack of information about the OK Nuts 2000 badge event which was cancelled at short notice due to a saturated car park. We are trying to reschedule the event for FEB 25th 2001. (The Chiltern Challenge planned for this date has been cancelled). Start times and details for your original entry will probably stand unless you have changed age class in 2001. We will send out information to all pre-entries who supplied a result envelope as as soon as land permissions have been confirmed. New entries will be accepted, watch out for a new flyer.
