Race 4: Wimbledon Common

This is the final race in SLOW’s July 2008 Park Orienteering Race Series – your last chance for glory.

Location: Grid ref TQ232712, postcode SW19 4UN – map link here. Registration, start and finish at south end of Wimbledon Common – NW corner of the open bit, close to Fox and Grapes pub. Look for SLOW feather flag.

Public transport: Nearest mainline and underground station (District Line) is Wimbledon, then 1 mile walk (up-hill) or take no. 200 bus up the hill to Wimbledon Village and walk from there.

Parking: On public roads

Entry fee: £2 (£1.50 if you travel via public transport, foot or bike)

Registration: 6.30 - 7.15pm.
Start times: 6.45 - 7.30pm.

Courses: Long 4.6km
Short 2.5km, fairly easy (orange colour-coded standard).

Timing: SportIdent. SI cards will be available for hire.

Map: 1:7,500 scale

Afterwards: Food and drink and extravagant series prizegiving at the Fox and Grapes – pretty close to finish
