Planner’s comments

A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Kennington Street-O. It was fantastic to see so many new faces as well as many of the regulars. I trust everyone enjoyed running it as much as I did in planning it, although I did miss being out pounding the streets map in hand!

It was great fun setting the course and choosing and checking the clues. Many of you will have found out that Charlie Chaplin was a resident of the Walworth Road, passed by the Cinema museum, Oval cricket ground and MI6, checked out many a pub and cafe and some of you will have stretched the legs to cross the river Thames at Lambeth. I tried to set the route in a way that no one would need to cross the Elephant & Castle roundabout although this area is improving to be more friendly for pedestrians and cyclists. I also set the map so that there were many possible routes including some precise navigation e.g. through the leafy Kennington squares, and some quicker through-routes. I hope it provided competitors with enough challenge and reward for the evening.

A special thank you to Stew, Dre, and everyone else who helped out on the night, and to the staff of the Old Red Lion for being marvelous hosts, we couldn’t have done it without you
