The Hawker Centre made things easy: thanks to Michelle the manager and the other staff for hosting us. The changing, showers and food were appreciated, and everyone seemed very genial. As Terry commented the general answer to how was your run was "very good, apart from... " so thanks and well done to Don McKerrow for setting a fair course that was both enjoyable and more challenging than many expected. I trust you will enjoy comparing your times with amongst others: the day's fastest Matthias Mahr, the country's top M50 (and 22nd in M21) Colin Dickson, and Tom and Tim from the Irish club Midland Navigators. From my point of view it looked a very successful frolics: plenty to interest the wide range of participants and plenty of chance to converse with other participants in our obscure minority sport. Here's looking forward to the next three Sundays for more of the same.
Nicky King, assisted by Jim Morris and Andy Robinson for control hanging, accurately handled the on the day planning. It was not plain sailing as we did have a couple of yellow course controls stolen from the line of the lock to the Ham Estate. Thanks to Mike Elliot for interrupting his run to get involved. I guess we may be using pin punches on our next visit, at least if it's in the summer. My thanks to the other SLOW members who helped put the event on: the start team of Richard Catmur and Terry Marsh, the finish team of Heather Walton and Mike Williamson, registration Sarah Brown and Matthias Mahr, naughty numbers Greg Street, control hanging and general odd jobs Ralph Street, and land access Andy Robinson. Particular thanks to Gavin Andrews for the computing: handling hardware and the "gavinware" entries and results software, and congratulations on such a good run, even if it was motivated by the thought you'd left the software in my hands.

All went mostly to plan; the only exception being control 128 which decided to allow its internal clock to go beserk and hence confuse the results system. All splits at 128 have therefore been discarded. A time of "0.00" indicates a runner did visit the control however an accurate time is not available. The extension ran smootly; the finish unit was actually a control (id 255) that recorded the two punches for Frolics End and then Extension End, this seems like the best approach for Extension courses. Fixed the scores eventually... added HAVOC back in.
