Reigate Priory – evening orienteering event

Tuesday 3 July 2007

This event is part of the London Tuesday evening summer orienteering series.

Location – Start, finish and registration will be outside Reigate Priory School at the edge of the park, at grid reference TQ252500, opposite the Morrison supermarket (map link here).  Reigate train station is 700m away (change at Redhill if coming from London – there are lots of trains to Redhill from Victoria/Clapham Junction).  Nearest parking is Morrison’s customer car park, which is accessed from Bell Street – you should be ok to park here in the evening.  Alternatively the nearest available public car park is in Bancroft Road, which is free to park in after 6pm. (Note that the Bell Street car park is closed due to redevelopment.)

Starts – 7:00 – 7:45 pm.

Courses – “Norwegian Map Memory” – a map for each leg is attached to the preceding control only, which you will then need to memorise in order to find the next control (although you can take a map with you if you really want to!).  Long course 5km, with the option of a shortcut to reduce to 3km.  SI punching will be used.

Terrain – The northern part of the area is flat open park, rising into quite steep slopes in the woodland on the southern part of the map. The woodland has a good path network, with mixed runnability.

Entry fee – £2.  If you feel you need a map to take along the course, please e-mail anne@trail-o.de by Monday 2nd July that we can estimate number of printed maps needed.
