Battersea & Chelsea Street-O Race

The next SLOW street orienteering event of the 2009-10 series will be held in Chelsea and Battersea on Tuesday 13 October.

Registration, start and finish - Rising Sun, 44 Ebury Bridge Road, London SW1W 8PZ.

Start times - turn up to start any time between 6:30pm and 7:30pm.

Travel - nearest stations Sloane Square (District and Circle lines) or Victoria.

Parking - is difficult close to the pub as resident parking restrictions apply until 10pm in Chelsea. Best to park in Pimlico (the other side of the railway line) where most street parking spaces are unrestricted after 6:30pm.

Race format - the normal Street-O format - you have 60 minutes to visit as many controls as possible, in any order, and return to the pub. Points vary from 10 to 40 per control. There is a 1 point penalty for every 3 seconds late back after your hour. Don't forget to bring a watch (essential!) and a pen to write down your answers to the "clues" as you go around. You might find it helpful to have a small torch.

Note: There are controls in Battersea Park. These will all be adjacent to the main, lit, carriageways. The main gates in the four corners of the park will be open. You take your chances with the smaller gates: they officially close at dusk but are usually open later.

Safety - be careful when crossing any busy roads. You may wish to wear fluorescent clothing.

Map - new map, Street-O format, A4, specially drawn for this race. Will be printed on waterproof paper.

Cost - £1.

Food - the pub serves food until 9pm.
