Trail Challenge
Ham Riverside
Tuesday 23 June 2009
Briefing at the 10K race start
Over 70 people took part in the second of this summer's Trail Challenge races, on a dry and sunny evening. The courses took the competitors through the streets and alleys of Ham and along
the western side of Richmond Park. There were plenty of route choice opportunities, and some legs were harder than others - numerous people were caught out from 6-7 and 8-9 on the 10K course.
Although Ed Catmur did the fastest time, he started late and was overtaking other runners all the way. Richard Barrett was the race winner in
that he crossed the finish line first. He duly collected "first" prize (a bottle of wine), but we had an extra bottle in reserve had Ed stayed for the prize-giving.
The next Trail Challenge race is on Tuesday 11 August in Richmond Park. It will be hosted
from the Ranelagh Harriers Clubhouse in Ham
(
location,
details). SLOW are also hosting a series of
5 Tuesday evening short orienteering races in London parks between this summer – for full details see
the Park Orienteering Race Series page. The next is being held next week on Tuesday 30 June in
Peckham Rye Park (
details).
