The OK Nuts Trophy is held in memory of Mike Wells-Cole, who died in 1976, and his club the OK Nuts, which disbanded later that year. The prizes are awarded to the winners of Senior Ladies (W21L), Senior Men (M21L) and Best Junior (M/W19 and under). It is an annual competition organised by South London Orienteers and Wayfarers (SLOW).
Coming from South, North and East the event will be signposted from Milford Junction, the junction of the A3 and the A283 near Milford, Surrey. This is 15 miles south-west of M25 Junction 10. The start for all courses is about 350m from the enquiry tent in the car park, it is about a 5 minute walk. The furthest part of the car-park will be no more than a 10 minute walk to the start. The start is via the car-park entrance. You will have to cross the road, the crossing will be marshalled but please take care. There is a fairly steep hill to walk up, this is not suitable for push chairs. The clothing dump will be a marked off area in trees near the start, please provide your own bag, it is only 100m from the finish and 10m from the start. Call up will be at -3 minutes. Late starters will be allowed to start at the discretion of the start officials but times will not be adjusted. There is plenty of space beside the clothing dump if any club would like to put up a tent for their own dry clothing dump and changing facility.
The string course is just before the clothing dump and is on the theme of the 12 Days of Christmas. Entry is free. The string course has one steep slope which young children will need to take care on but should be able to manage. The map has been specially drawn for the event by Andrew Trimble and has lots of outline pictures for colouring in at home.
Competitors are responsible for their own safety and take part in this event at their own risk. There will be no stub check on the badge courses. If you are on your own you may wish to sign in at the enquiries tent and sign out when you return. It is likely that there will be a stub check for colour coded competitors. All competitors shall carry a whistle. Please bring a cagoule or some form of waterproof, in the event of bad weather this may be made compulsory. Signs will be displayed at the car park entrance if this is necessary. St John Ambulance will provide first aid cover at the finish.
The map is a new survey by Chris Morris and a new O-Cad map by Robin Thomas. The scale for all courses is 1: 15 000.

The decision by our planners to provide a no-paths map for the top courses has provided some lively discussion in this English-speaking newsgroup with comments not only from the UK but also from the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Norway. Much of the comment has been negative but you can decide for yourself if you are running these courses. The planners and controller will be pleased to receive your views on the day.
