Wimbledon Common Night-O

The second race of South London Orienteers’ five event 2019-2020 Night-O Series takes place on Wimbledon Common, south-west London, on Tuesday 26th November 2019. The race centre is the Hand in Hand  a low-ceilinged 19th century cottage on the edge of the Common.

The Night-O series are public races – all are welcome. Please RSVP to the event via Facebook (link above) to let us know you are coming – you can also see who else is coming and post questions. If you are not on Facebook, please let the organiser Peter Huzan (email details at bottom of this post) know you are coming  so that the correct number of maps are printed.

Race Centre

The race will be based at The Hand in Hand on Crooked Billet, SW19 4RQ. The pub serves great food and drink, and there will be the usual opportunity to revisit route choices with other runners.

Getting there

The pub is a 15 minute walk from Wimbledon Station (SW Mainline and Underground) or Raynes Park. Bus route 200 runs from Wimbledon station and Raynes Park, closest stop is “Edge Hill” on Ridgway.

Race Details

The entry fee is £5, or £3 for SLOW members, students and juniors. The race will use SIAC contactless punching. SIAC cards are available to hire if you do not have your own. A small number of headlamps are also available to borrow free of charge but you need to email the organiser in advance to reserve one.

  • Long: approximately 5km, quite challenging
  • Short: approximately 2.5km, quite challenging

All competitors take part at their own risk.
