Four club competitions this autumn!
Members of South London Orienteers are competing in four club competitions this autumn.
2012 saw the club’s first Autumn Series, and this has returned in 2013. Three events from five organised by other southern clubs count for the competition. Results on different courses are combined using the national ranking points, and the person with the highest points in each race scores 100 points, the second 99, etc. In case of a tie, the results in head-to-head competition will be considered. The first event was the November Classic held in the New Forest on Sunday 3rd November. Details of the upcoming events in the series are on our Hot Picks page, with our social officer Libby Schofield coordinating the series.
SLOW is also holding a Club Championship on Saturday 14 December, at the Southern Navigators Saturday Series event at Mytchett. Men will run the blue course (5km) and women the green (3.5km) with start times from 10:00 to 11:30. Any club member wishing to take part must register in advance with Paul Couldridge, at .
Our club-organised open competitions continue with the third race in our annual Street-O competition on Tuesday 12 November in Clerkenwell. Only ten points separate the top five runners after two events so far.
SLOW’s successful Night-O series returns after a first showing in 2012-13, with the second event of five on Wimbledon Common on Tuesday 26 November. This provides a good opportunity for practice ahead of the SE Night Championships which the club is hosting on Oxshott and Esher Commons the following Saturday, 30 November.
There’s plenty of opportunity to get involved in any of this wide variety of races. If you’re interested, get in touch with the a member of club via the individual events pages, the contact page above or via our South London Orienteers Facebook page.
