Thanks everyone for coming out! It was a beautiful night for orienteering, but the sunny day didn’t do much to dry out the ground underfoot.
Brockwell Park is beautiful, but not overly wooded! We made up for the lack of vegetation difficulty by giving some longer legs that required the orienteer to stay “on the map” and keep track of where they were, as there were fewer features to navigate by.
We were a little more strict than normal on timings for this race, we were asked by Lambeth council to vacate the park by nine pm, so we had to start clearing controls pretty promptly as the course closed. Thank you to the racers for being so understanding of that!
Thanks to the army of helpers who managed to clear the entire course in 20 minutes, and of course those who stood out all night at the start and in registration! If you haven’t volunteered in a race yet, please do, it’s a great way to meet more club members, and the races don’t run without a lot of club support.
