SLOW achieves Clubmark!
South London Orienteers have achieved Clubmark accreditation! We have become the 21st British orienteering club to achieve this. For further information on Clubmark for orienteering clubs, see the British Orienteering clubmark information page. Further details on Clubmark are set out below.
Clubmark is the Sport England quality accreditation for clubs with junior sections which comply with operating standards in four areas:
- Duty of Care & Child Protection
- Coaching & Competition
- Sports Equity & Ethics
- Club Management
Over the last year or so, committee members have attended courses on:
- Good Practice & Child Protection
- Equity in Your Coaching
- A Club for All
- Coaching Children
The following policies and codes of conduct have been adopted:
- Protecting Young & Vulnerable People Policy
- Equity Policy
- Code of Conduct for Parents & Carers
- Code of Conduct for Officials & Volunteers
- Code of Conduct for Participants
In addition the club has demonstrated that it has:
- a programme of junior coaching
- qualified coaches
- a Junior Rep (Ralph Street)
- a Development Officer (Christine Robinson)
- links with local School Sport Partnerships
- links with local schools
- first aid cover, risk assessments and emergency procedures for all events (see Documents page)
Increasingly local authorities and parents look for Clubmark accreditation as a sign that a club is a good quality club which takes care of young people and provides them with an enjoyable and safe experience. We are proud to say we do so.
