SLOW Autumn Series standings after two events
The SLOW Autumn Series continues this weekend with the Southern Navigators’ Trophy at Hindhead Common. As an area described as “abundant with contours away from flat tops”, it is sure to provide a strong physical challenge, with mixed run-ability and a typical South-East path network. The map dates from February 2012, but was recently updated to reflect detailed features. 33 SLOW members have pre-entered, and there will probably be more on the day. The post-race pub is the Dog and Pheasant (GU8 5UJ).
With two events run and three of four events counting, the results so far (detailed below) show that competition is tight.
In the Men’s Super-Plus Vets (M50+) Don McKerrow and Charlie Turner jointly head the table, closely followed by Andy Robinson two points down. Pete Huzan and Vince Roper are also separated by two points, but Angus Lund could disrupt the score if he can count at the next two events. Jev Petrovs scored maximum points in the Men’s Open competition, so Paul Couldridge has some work to do to catch him.
Charlotte Turner leads the Women’s Open having scored highly twice, but recent import to SLOW Lucca Blumenstein won at Cowdray Forest and is set to run this weekend. Dorte Torpe Hansen and Teresa Turner lead the Women’s Vets and Super-Plus Vets respectively, but could see their position under threat if others run this weekend.
The series final takes place next weekend at the OK Nuts Trophy.
