SLOW wins Spirit of Inclusion Award

South London Orienteers are delighted to be awarded British Orienteering’s Spirit of Inclusion Award 2023. This is a new award category introduced to recognise the success of club initiatives or projects that aimed to reach currently under-represented groups in orienteering.

The award was based on the club’s successful introduction of an Accessible course at the 2023 London City Race, the club’s flagship urban race. Alan Leakey, the race planner, fittingly collected the award on the club’s behalf. Alan did a tremendous amount of work on this course, taking insights and learnings from British Orienteering and from other clubs who have already introduced such courses at their events.

South London Orienteers have plans for having an Accessible course at the 2024 race.
