Getting there
The Herne Tavern is a 20-to-30-minute walk from five stations, Peckham Rye, East Dulwich, Nunhead, Honor Oak and Forest Hill.
The most convenient station is Peckham Rye (Windrush Line plus Southern, Southeastern and Thameslink services). Take a 63 or a 363 bus from the station. Alight at the stop just past Peckham Rye (Dunstans Road) . The bus journey takes approx 5 minutes. From the bus stop cross Forest Hill Road at the traffic lights, the Herne Tavern is approx 50 metres from the traffic lights. Many other routes are, no doubt, possible. See TFL website for details.
There are currently construction works at Peckham Rye Station (trains running as normal). Turn right when exiting the station and head for Bus Stop V (for 63 or 363 service).
Car travel
There are no parking restrictions in the area, although space is limited near to The Herne Tavern. There are generally ample spaces on Colyton Road between Dovedale Road and Shelbury Road – and on both those roads. (see sketch)

Map information
Peckham Rye Park contains a wide variety of different terrain.
The central area consists of a number of surfaced paths interspersed with small wooded areas, ornamental and water garden areas, a lake and children’s play areas. There are open recreational fields to the north, south and west of this central area, flanked by a large number of mature and younger trees.
Paths in the wooded areas are seasonal, not all of these small paths are mapped.
Safety Information
There are a number of crossable fences in the area, please take care if you chose to cross them. Take care on the small slopes should the conditions be damp!
As with all parks, we share the area with other park users, please be courteous and go around any organised games. We would like to be invited back!
