Race Details & Entry
Registration and entry is online only. Entry is open and via SiEntries. All entries, including on the day, will be online. Entries will stay open until 19:25 on the day of the event subject to map availability.
The entry fee is £3 for juniors and students; £5 for senior British Orienteering members; £7 for others. Your entry fee includes a full colour map printed on waterproof paper, which you can keep as a souvenir after your run, and a printout of your race time and splits at the end of the race.
The races use both SIAC contactless and SI electronic punching. SIAC cards are available to hire for those who do not have their own for £2 (free for juniors). Hire cards to be collected at the pub.
You are welcome to participate in pairs or groups. Each entry uses one electronic chip and provides one map, so make as many entries as the number of maps the group will want. We do recommend having your own map as map-reading and navigating is part of the fun! If making a single entry for a group, please put “+1” or “+Runner B name” etc at the end of the surname field in the online entry system so that the club can monitor participation numbers.
|Start Times||Between 1800 and 1930|
Courses close at 20:15. Controls will be collected from then.
Sunset 20:07 and civil twilight (period when the light starts to fade, but you can still comfortably go about your business without the need for artificial light) ends at 20:43.
Punching Start for SI and SIAC.
Controls and Finish will have contactless punching enabled.
These courses are offered:
- Long: approximately 5km
- The Long course is likely to have more than 30 controls. If you have a version 5 SI card (numbers 1 – 499,999) or a version 8 SI Card (numbers 2,000,001 – 2,999,999) these will not have sufficient capacity. Please hire a SIAC during the entry process or if already entered please log back in and amend your entry.
- Short: approximately 2.5km
Shorts are permitted.
We will present prizes to the top 3 men and top 3 women in the Park Race series (Long course) and also to the overall winner of the Short course.
We will present prizes to runners who attended all events in the series.
All competitors take part at their own risk. Adequate clothing should be worn for the conditions.
Photos may be taken at the event.
Results will be available on the SLOW website shortly after the event.
Helping on the night
This event can’t happen without volunteer effort on the night. If you can lend a hand on the Start, or with collecting controls, it is greatly appreciated – please get in touch with Michael. Everyone who helps will be able to run.
Organiser/Planner: Michael Crone
This is the last event in Park Race series. If you’d like to do more orienteering, why not enter the London City Race weekend on Friday 2nd September to Sunday 4th September?
