Richmond Park Night-o

The first race of South London Orienteers’ five event 2019-2020 Night-O Series takes place in Richmond Park, south-west London, on Tuesday 29th October 2019. The race centre is the The Albert, Kingston Hill.

The Night-O series are public races – all are welcome. Please RSVP to the event via Facebook (link above) to let us know you are coming – you can also see who else is coming and post questions. If you are not on Facebook, please let the organiser Sue Carter (email details at bottom of this post) know you are coming  so that the correct number of maps are printed.

Race Centre

The race will be based at The Albert, 57 Kingston Hill, KT2 7PX. The pub serves great food and drink, and there will be the usual opportunity to revisit route choices with other runners.

Getting there

The pub is a 5 minute walk from Norbiton Station (SW Mainline), with buses 57, 85 & 213 stopping directly in front of the pub.

Race Details

The entry fee is £5, or £3 for SLOW members, students and juniors. The race will use SIAC contactless punching. SIAC cards are available to hire if you do not have your own. A small number of headlamps are also available to borrow free of charge but you need to e-mail the organiser in advance to reserve one.

Richmond Park is one of the best orienteering areas inside the M25. It is the largest of the royal parks and a national nature reserve.

These courses are offered:

  • Long: approximately 5km, quite challenging
  • Short: approximately 2.5km, quite challenging

All competitors take part at their own risk.
