This was actually the first park event I’ve planned despite being Park Race coordinator a few years ago! Burgess Park is a lovely central park and it was great to see so many who still turned up despite the hot weather – I’m seriously impressed.
I wanted the event centre to be near public transport and to be different to the last Park Race we had from Oval, and so I based it from Elephant and Castle. I hope you liked the buzz of the area and my choice of venue. I tried to plan the courses on the shorter side as the event centre was quite some walk away and I wanted people to get back at a reasonable time.
The main worry I had was the funfair. I didn’t have a confirmed area where it was going to be (in the past it’s not been where advertised), so to be safe I avoided the two large flat open areas. I think the courses still presented you with sufficient interest and challenge even without these areas.
As always, many thanks to all the helpers without whom the event couldn’t happen.
