SLOW in the CompassSport Cup Final
South London Orienteers yesterday qualified for the 2015 CompassSport Cup Final, the national competition for UK orienteering clubs, beating off strong competition from Southdowns Orienteers, as well as Thames Valley OC and Hertfordshire OC. The team, of 25 counting runners and many more who helped push down the scores for the other clubs, finished narrowly behind Southern Navigators (SN) at the South-East qualifier race at Great Common, near Midhurst in Surrey, and so qualify due to SN winning in the finals last year.
Highlights included a 1-2-3 in the Mens’ Vets class, and class wins for Paul Couldridge and Mike Murray. Full results.
The finals take place in Helsington Barrows, in the Lake District, in October.
