Park Race – Burgess Park

The second race in the 2026 Park Race series will be at Burgess Park, south London, on Tuesday 26th May.

Race Centre

The race will be based at Feed the Yak Elephant Park! The pub serves food and drink, and there will be the usual opportunity to revisit route choices with other runners. Kit can be left while you run (at you own risk).
Note that due to online entry (see below), you do not need to come to Feed the Yak before your run if you choose – you can go directly to the start. However you must come back to the pub to download.

Getting there

Feed the Yak is a short walk from Elephant & Castle station, served by both national rail services as well as the Bakerloo and Northen lines. The area is also served by several bus services. See TFL website for details.

Race Details and Entry

The entry fee is £6 for British Orienteering members*, students and juniors; £8 for others. The races use both SIAC contactless and SI electronic punching; SIAC cards are available to hire for those who do not have their own for £2.

Enter at SiEntries

All entries, including on the day, will be online. Entries will stay open until 19:25 on the day of the event subject to map availability. Please make sure you have arrived at the start by 19:30.


Please note that the start is 1300m away (what3words ///movie.decks.certified), approximately 20mins walk. Route along Wansey Street, Brandon Street, Portland Street and crossing Albany Road at the traffic light. Finish is near the start. If you have your own SI card you may go directly to the start. You can leave items at the start at your own risk and items must be collected before the last start time of 19:30.

Start Times: 18:15 – 19:30

Courses close 20:30 – you must return to the pub by this time, even if you have not completed the course.

These courses are offered:

  • Long: approximately 4.9km (shortest permissable)
  • Short: approximately 2.5km (shortest permissable)

Both courses use the map scale 1:5000 with no contours and both courses have minimal traffic, so are suitable for under 16s.

Additional Information

All competitors take part at their own risk. Participants who are not members of British Orienteering are not covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. By entering this event, I acknowledge that I am taking part at my own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered.

Shorts are permitted.
