Getting There
Nearest station is Ealing Broadway. There are several bus routes too. See tfl website for travel info.
Race Details & Entry
The entry fee is £6 for British Orienteering members, students and juniors; £8 for others. The races use both SIAC contactless and SI electronic punching; SIAC cards are available to hire for those who do not have their own for £2.
We decide how many maps to print a week before the race, and this then limits the numbers of entries we can accept. If we reach the limit we will close entries and update this web post (this happened for our recent race in Battersea Park).
Entries now open at SiEntries.
Entries, including on the day, are online only. Entries will stay open until 19:25 on the day of the event subject to map availability.
The start is a minute from the pub. Take care crossing the roads – the long course will have timed out crossings as the parks are separated by public roads.
Start Times: 18:00 – 19:30
Courses close 20:30 – you must return to the pub by this time, even if you have not completed the course.
Two courses are offered:
- Long: approximately 5km (straight line) – includes road crossings.
- Short: approximately 2.5km (straight line)
- Shorts will be fine for either course.
- The Long course has over 30 controls so some old dibbers will not work. Please ask at registration if you are in doubt.
- The Long course has road crossings. The Short course has no road crossings.
Results will be available on the SLOW website shortly after the event.
Notes
Flood relief work in Lammas Park.
This is just a park race, a chance to run with a map in a beautiful place and meet other orienteers before and after. Please make your safety and being considerate to others your priority. Take especial care with the road crossings. And please do not cross “uncrossable” map features or areas, such as walls, fences, gates that are mapped as closed, flower beds and out-of-bounds..
On most evenings the parks are enjoyed by many people, so expect cyclists, other runners, dog walkers, picnicers and pedestrians. Please give way to them or run around!
All competitors take part at their own risk.
Helping on the night
This event can’t happen without volunteer effort on the night. If you can lend a hand on the start, or with collecting controls, it is greatly appreciated – please get in touch with . Everyone who helps will be able to run.
