Planner’s comments
Central London events tend to attract larger numbers, but it was great to get a record attendance of 120 (including pairs etc) – including several new faces – at the Waterloo Street-O. The complexity of parts of Southwark and the City also allowed me to set a course which was perhaps more technically challenging than some other parts of London allow – I hope this was an enjoyable challenge rather than a frustration to competitors! A couple of lessons for future planners to bear in mind; if signs are above eye-level it’s worth mentioning this in the clue description, and fire hydrant signs may not always be as easy to spot as you think!
Thanks as always go to everyone who helped me put on this event, in particular Paul Couldridge for managing the hordes of people who turned up for the event, Don McKerrow for standing in the cold at the start and all those who answered my pleas to help with marking answers on the night.
