SLOW Club Champions

Traditionally held annually (usually in December) where members come together for some friendly competition to crown the club champions. After a hiatus it was revived in 2013 by Paul Couldridge. It is held at an event organised by a neighbouring orienteering club. Champions are determined by the fastest time on the nominated course. There are separate championships for Men, Women and Juniors. Competitors must be a current member of SLOW to be eligible.
Initially the championships had just the one category, but in 1980 it was decided that the open, older juniors and younger juniors should be separated from “mass” and have their own championships. The Older and younger juniors only lasted one year (there were no older junior finishers in Dec 1980). In 1988 a new Veteran (40+) category was added: the winners were Mike Murray and Teressa Turner. This was not kept when the championships was resurrected in 2013.
The Super-Veteran (60+) category was added in the 2024 club championship.
