South London Orienteers are running a course “Teaching Orienteering Part 1” in Kingston upon Thames on Friday 11 March. For more details, please see the flyer.

There is a club coaching weekend in the Lake District in March.

Our club coach is Nicola Morris. Nicola writes:
“There is a monthly personal coaching at SN Saturday league events, the next one is 12th March at Merrist Wood.
“General format is that someone tells me they’re attending and then we meet at the start to discuss a technique to work on, they run their race, followed by debrief after the 18/19/20 March to tie in with Eel Tarn event on the Sunday. Contact if you’re interested.”

South London Orienteers are organising orienteering for children and families, on Saturdays during June and July 2010 at the Hawker Centre (YMCA Kingston), between Kingston & Richmond.
The events take place on 12 June, 19 June, 26 June, 3 July and 10 July, from 2:30pm – 4:00pm.

There is a club training event on Leith Hill from 10 to 2 on Saturday the 13th of March.
We’ve got a good number of SLOWies who have said they are keen but we’re not over subscribed by any means so we’re thinking of offering it out to other clubs, unless there is a sudden flurry of SLOW interest….! Can you let me know ASAP if you’re interested.

Do you know anyone who has never orienteered but would like to have two hours of introductory coaching?
SLOW, together with Southfields Community College, are putting on a “Family Orienteering Day” on Wimbledon Common this coming Saturday. It will be a fun two hour introduction to orienteering for anyone aged 8 to 80.
Just turn up next to the Windmill car park– map link here. Coaching will be from 11 till 1, Saturday 25th April.

Please note this course is for teachers, youth sector workers and those working in schools and outdoor centres; it is not aimed at club coaches.
WHEN – Saturday 4th April, starting 11:00 sharp and running until about 13:00.
WHERE – We are meeting at the Windmill car park in Wimbledon Common – map link here.
WHAT – There will be 4 courses on offer for advanced orienteers. These add to a total of 8km so will provide a good workout. There is also an easier ‘butterfly loops’ course for beginners.
There will be a team of experienced coaches available on the day to talk technique. Shadowing will be on offer for beginners.
The session has been planned by Australian Team coach Rob Lewis who will share some know-how from down under. He will also be able to talk about technique for Aussie forests for anyone going to the World Masters in October.
