MBO SCORE RESULTS 2023
Results and Race Reports for each event can be found on the BMBO website. For MapRun events, tracks and splits can be found on the MapRun Results site. Note that we use the BMBO scoring scheme (graduated penalties) which is reflected in results on the SLOW and BMBO sites but not in the MapRun app (shows 1 point per minute late). Any missing checkpoints will have been corrected in MapRun.
Congratulations to the class winners (2023 Series):
- Men’s Vets (50+) – Ian Cartwright
- Women’s Vets (50+) – Jane Robinson
- Men’s Seniors (21-49) – Nuno Cerqueira
- Women’s Seniors (21-49) – Caroline Wharton
We finished off the year with a visit to a new area for SLOW around the Candovers in Hampshire. The 3 weeks of rain and storms leading up to the event abated for a couple of days and we enjoyed a dry and sunny autumnal day on some muddy but largely firm tracks. There were plenty of choices and a big variety of routes ridden.

The 3rd new area for SLOW in as many months. The course and riding area were well received by those who came along. There were lots of options for routes around the beautiful trails at Ashridge, Tring and Wendover. Parts of the course were flatter and faster than expected and a few riders came back a little earlier than planned.
A new area for SLOW which was much appreciated by riders. There were 30 checkpoints which meant many route choices were available, clearances were not feasible and everyone took very different routes. The North Downs edge ran across the centre of the map so avoiding too much ascent and descent of this was key to a good score.
For the furry long eared residents of Watership Down there was a chance for some added danger or to watch bikes flying by on some very fast, mostly dry trails. The Vine pub was an excellent base to explore a large area of the Wessex Downs. With the edge of the Downs and a lot of rolling countryside there was more climbing than might have been expected. Despite some atrocious last minute weather forecasts no rain was seen all morning.
Series prizes will be presented to the first and second places in the following categories: Men’s Vets (50+), Men’s Senior (18-49), Women’s Vets (50+), Women’s Senior (18-49), Youth/Junior.
Series rankings are based on your top 4 scores from this years events. To qualify for prizes or rankings, participants must have attended at least 3 events. Course planners are credited for the events they plan with the average of their best 2 event results.
